WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After leading the Purdue volleyball team to its first NCAA Elite Eight berth in the modern era and wins over three Top 10 foes in 2010, senior setter Jaclyn Hart became the eighth All-America selection in program history. The Palos Hills, Ill., native was named to the AVCA All-America third team on Wednesday. Hart also has received AVCA All-Mideast Region and unanimous All-Big Ten accolades in 2010.

Hart has been an all-around threat for the Boilermakers throughout her career. She has dished out 4,918 assists, second most in Purdue history, while also putting up 307 block assists, 10th most in Boilermaker lore. The setter also has registered 818 digs and 533 kills, while hitting at a .307 clip, ranking tied for fifth all-time. Hart belongs to the elite triple threat club, having recorded a 12-kill, 41-assist, 10 dig effort vs. UCF on Sept. 5, 2009. She also has recorded 25 double-doubles in her career, including five this season. All told, Hart played in 132 matches, starting 122.

In 2010, she dished out 10.68 assists per set, sixth most in the Big Ten, while also accounting for 1.75 digs, 1.38 kills and 0.76 blocks per set. The senior posted a team-leading .394 hitting percentage, good for the second-best season mark in program lore, including a .384 effort in conference play, second best among league players. She hit .300 or better in 22 matches, including .500 or better 13 times. Hart posted five double-doubles, combining digs with assists each time. She was named as the Pitt Invitational MVP and to the Big East/Big Ten Challenge all-tournament team. The senior is the sixth Boilermaker and 40th Big Ten player to reach the 4,000 assist milestone.

In the Boilermakers' NCAA first round contest against Kentucky, Hart posted nine kills and 12 swings with no errors for a .750 hitting percentage, the best mark by a Purdue player in NCAA Tournament history. (Statistic based on 10 or more attempts.) The effort surpassed JoAnne Wissen's mark of .550 (12-1-20), from the Dec. 5, 1982, match against Rutgers.



In the team's upset of No. 1 Florida in the Sweet 16, Hart dished out 39 assists and guided the team to a .327 hitting percentage, Purdue's best mark in NCAA Tournament play. The mark surpassed the .326 effort against Nebraska on Dec. 11, 1982.

Hart is Purdue's first All-America selection since 2008, when Stephanie Lynch received first team acclaim. She is the third Purdue All-American under head coach Dave Shondell following Renata Dargan (Honorable Mention 2005) and Lynch (Honorable Mention 2006, 2007; First team 2008).

Each of the three AVCA All-America teams in comprised of 14 athletes. Awards will be presented Dec. 17 in Kansas City, Mo., at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year banquet. Eleven Big Ten players will be honored.
