WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Ashley Evans made the list for the third time of her career and is now eligible for her third Academic All-America nod.
The redshirt-senior out of Liberty Township, Ohio, earned first team honors for the third consecutive season and has the chance to become the first three-time Academic All-American in program history. She joins Danita Merlau and Kristen Arthurs as the only Purdue volleyball student-athletes to earn all-district honors three times in their career. She's been the one of the most successful Boilermakers in the classroom this program has ever seen and she has done it as a mechanical engineering major.
Evans is one of 10 student-athletes recognized from the Big Ten as Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern and Penn State all had at least one student-athlete on the list. CoSIDA Academic All-America honors will be announced in December.
