WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 9 Boilermaker volleyball team split into two squads for its annual Gold & Black Scrimmage on Saturday, offering fans one final peek before the season opens August 24.
Fans also received autographed posters and were able to tour the team's new facilities including a lockerroom, lounge and film room.
The black squad won four of the five sets, but all 17 available players got in on the action. The coaching staff shuffled players between teams in order to try out different lineups and looks.
Purdue kicks off its 2012 season against No. 21 Northern Iowa at 7 p.m. Friday. The Boilermakers also welcome George Washington and Pittsburgh to Belin Court for the weekend Mortar Board Premier tournament.
The Boilermaker roster features 12 returning players from the 2011 team which advanced to the Sweet 16, and six newcomers.
