Volleyball Practice Is Under Way
With 14 players returning from the 2012 team, the Boilers are looking to add to their tally of six Sweet 16 berths in the last eight seasons.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Preparations for the 2013 volleyball season are officially under way as practice began Friday morning. A session focused on ball control got things started for the team of 14 returning players and newcomer Ashley Evans.

Tune in to the team's facebook (facebook.com/PurdueVB), twitter (@PurdueVB) and Instagram (PurdueVB) accounts for photos, videos and other updates throughout fall camp.

Coach Dave Shondell took a few minutes before Friday afternoon's practice to talk about the team, the day's practices and what fans can expect if they join the Boilers to take in open practices.

Fans are welcome to watch any of the team's practices which typically occur daily at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., on Belin Court although the schedule is subject to change. The team also will offer a pair of open scrimmages on Aug. 17 and 24 to give fans a sneak preview of the team before the season begins.

Purdue volleyball kicks off the 2013 season against perennial NCAA stronghold USC at 7 p.m. August 30 on Belin Court. Both season and individual match tickets are available online at purduesports.com or by calling the athletics ticket office at 1-800-49-SPORT.

The Boilermakers will take on 10 NCAA Tournament teams and eight foes that ranked among the final Top 25 poll of 2012.
