WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Katie McGuine will be the inaugural Director of Operations for the Boilermaker volleyball team, head coach Dave Shondell announced.
"Katie is a great addition to our staff," head coach Dave Shondell said. "She has performed the director of operations role at the University of Iowa during the past few years and will bring that knowledge and experience to this new position at Purdue. Katie is very assertive and operates in a positive and productive manner. Having Katie on board will allow our staff to be more efficient and spend more time on coaching the terrific players in our program."
The Rochester, Minn., native, comes to Purdue after acting as the Director of Volleyball Operations at the University of Iowa for two years. In that position, she worked closely with the Hawkeye coaching staff, helping coordinate and carry out the day-to-day activities of the program. McGuine also was responsible for arranging team travel, overseeing the budget, monitoring academics, supervising public service activities and coordinating summer camps and training tables.
While in Iowa City, McGuine was a club coach, leading the Iowa City Rockers 14s team in 2006-07 and the Solon Spiking Angels 15s team in 2007-08.
Prior to joining the Hawkeyes, she served as the Human Resources Manager at Cardinal of Minnesota, Ltd., in Rochester, MN. She also served as head volleyball coach at Pine Island High School during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In 2005 and 2006 she was head coach of the 16s Southern Minnesota Volleyball Club in Rochester, MN.
McGuine had previously served as the coach from 2002-03 for NASA Volleyball in Huntsville, AL, where she was the power coach for the 14 year-old team and exposition coach for the 16-18 year-old team. While in Huntsville, she was also the Membership Coordinator for the Huntsville Athletic Club & worked with the Milwaukee Brewers AA Affiliate.
She also coached ninth grade volleyball at Lake Crystal High School in 1999 and 10th grade volleyball at Mankato East High School in 2000.
As a student-athlete, McGuine played one season at Rochester Community and Technical College (1997), followed by one year at Minnesota State, Mankato (1998).
McGuine graduated from Minnesota State, Mankato in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with Sports Management emphasis and a Minor in Coaching. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Purdue.
