Volleyball signees Grace Cleveland and Jael Johnson are ranked among the top 50 incoming freshmen in the nation by VolleyballMag.com. The list is voted on by NCAA Division I coaches and 20 of the best high school seniors are heading to Big Ten programs.
Cleveland, PrepVolleyball's No. 13 recruit in the nation, is the highest ranked recruit in Purdue's incoming class. The 6-3 middle blocker out of Bloomington, Illinois, is an AAU All-American as well as a three-time JVA All-National Team honoree. A product of Illini Elite, Cleveland spent part of her summer in Florida competing on the USA Junior A1 Training Team and has led Normal Community High School to two regional championships and one sectional championship. Through her freshman, sophomore seasons she was a two-time all-conference recipient and was awarded First Team All-Area as a junior.
Johnson is a four-time sectional and regional champion and has been ranked a top 100 recruit in each of her four years at Avon High School. The 6-2 middle blocker out of Mooresville, Indiana, led Avon to a state title in her senior season. She joins a lengthy list of Purdue greats that have hailed from Circle City Volleyball Club.
