Post-Game Quotes, Middle Tennessee State vs. Miami

Dec. 6, 2008

Middle Tennessee State head coach Matt Peck:

Opening Statement...
"To start with, I don't feel like we played a good match tonight. Our best hitter was negative and there were other players struggling also. We have to be better tomorrow. I think we came out a little nervous and flustered. With as poorly as we played, I am very happy with the result. The first round is always the toughest."

Senior MH Ashley Asberry:

On slow start to match...
"It was hard. I am human like everyone else. My teammates really helped me. They got on me and told me to keep going at it and to keep my head up."

Freshman MH Stacy Oladinni:

On what Coach Peck was telling the team to do during timeouts while trailing...
"Every time we went over there we were expecting to be yelled at and we did. He just told us to keep working and get back in it and anything can happen from there."

Sophomore OH Izabela Kozon:

On career high kills...
"Every time I get out there, I try my best. When I struggle, my teammates step up. Tonight, they struggled and I stepped up. There are no individuals, tonight, the team won.

Miami (OH) head coach Carolyn Condit:

Opening statement...
"Obviously we are disappointed. We know we can play better, but Middle Tennessee State earned their top-25 ranking. They out dug us by a few and out blocked us. We have to give credit to (Middle Tennessee State sophomore) Izabela for playing a great game for them."

Freshman setter Courtney Wilson:

On the tone of the game...
"We started out by feeling out our opponent. Our blocking strategy was working and our passing was too. Eventually if we wouldn't have a pass, we wouldn't have a set. If we wouldn't have a set, we wouldn't have a hit."

Sophomore middle blocker Michele Metzler:

On what Coach Condit was telling the team during timeouts while trailing...
"The coaches were just telling us to keep going and pushing. When we have it, we are a really good team. We just have great bonding among our team."

Senior libero Melissa Zenz:

On the season...
"It is just exciting to be here. Our season overall was successful; we had some really big wins. Our season was full of ups and downs; it's how you respond to them that matters and I think we did well.
