WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue women's tennis coach Laura Glitz has announced that Lynda Xepoleas (Newport Beach, Calif.) has returned her National Letter of Intent to Purdue indicating her choice to become a Boilermaker beginning in fall 2011.
"I am extremely excited to sign Lynda, a player of such high caliber," Glitz said. "She has had a very successful junior career and will impact our program immediately. Along with being a top-quality player, Lynda is also a great person who will represent Purdue and our tennis program extremely well."
The Corona del Mar High School senior is a blue-chip recruit considered to be the most highly touted in Boilermaker women's tennis history. She has arched as high as No. 4 in United States Tennis Association rankings for junior 18-year-old girls.
Xepoleas recently claimed the singles title at the Dunlop Junior Championships after defeating No. 10 Lorraine Guillermo in the final, and last February took second place at the USTA National Open at Ojai, Calif. In addition, Xepoleas netted herself to third place in a July National Open and at the Roxy Junior Championships, an event she conquered when she was 16.
Xepoleas is eager and enthusiastic about choosing Purdue.
"I am excited and cannot wait to become a Boilermaker," Xepoleas said.
