WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team has a weekend full of action. Six of the women will travel to Champaign, Ill., to compete in the Midwest Blast while two others will head to Tennessee for the Memphis Invitational.

The Midwest Blast is a four team hidden dual with Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Illinois as well as the Boilermakers. A hidden dual pairs teams up against other schools much like the spring season. Instead of playing the same school in singles and doubles, the teams rotate and play singles or doubles against one school before playing another team in the other event.

Purdue will send a pair of freshmen, sophomores, and seniors to the tournament. Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Claudia Escribens make up the freshmen pair while Daniela Vidal and Lynda Xepoleas are the sophomores. Gisella Pere and Imogen Golder make up the senior duo.

The Boilermakers are scheduled to play three matches on Friday, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday. Purdue is scheduled to open the tournament at 10 a.m. ET against Georgia Tech in doubles play. The Boilermakers will then turn around and play Wake Forest in singles at 11 a.m. Following singles, Purdue returns to the courts at 4:30 p.m. against Illinois in doubles.

Saturday's action slates the Boilermakers with Wake Forest at 10 a.m. for doubles. Purdue again will have a quick turnaround as it plays Georgia Tech in singles at 11 a.m. The Boilermakers wrap up the tournament on Sunday with singles play against Illinois at noon.

Volunteer assistant coach Caroline Lilley will get her first chance as a coach to compete against her alma mater Georgia Tech. Lilley graduated in the spring of 2012 after being a top member of the Yellow Jacket women's tennis team.

The remaining two Boilermakers will make the trip to Memphis. Mara Schmidt is scheduled to compete in the White Draw while Krisztina Kapitany will compete in the Gray Draw. The Memphis Invitational does not have a doubles draw. Schmidt will compete against Abbi Melrose of Oklahoma while Kapitany will compete against Zita Engbrooks of Oklahoma. Schmidt match is scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m. while Kapitany will begin at 11:30 a.m.
