WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team is hosting the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regionals this weekend. The tournament will be played from Thursday, Oct. 18 through Monday, Oct. 22 on the Basham Courts at the Schwartz Tennis Center.

The tournament will be the only home tournament this fall for the Boilermakers. All eight Purdue women qualified for the tournament with seven in the main draw and one in the qualifiers.  The tournament has 88 individuals that will compete in singles and doubles from 18 schools across the Ohio Valley Region. Ball State, Butler, and IUPUI will make the trip to West Lafayette from across the Hoosier State. Other schools including Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, and Xavier will make the trip from out of state.

Claudia Escribens and Krisztina Kapitany are the first Boilermakers scheduled to play. The freshmen are paired together in qualifying doubles and are matched against Antonia Kolovou and Larn McShane of East Tennessee State. The match is scheduled to being at 9 a.m. ET on Thursday. If the duo wins, it will play again at 11 a.m. in the second round of doubles qualifiers. The four doubles teams that advance to the semifinals of the qualifying draw will advance to the main draw on Friday.

Escribens is also scheduled to play singles on the tournament's opening day. The rookie will play Andrea Wolf of Xavier at 2:30 p.m. If Escribens wins, she would be scheduled to play her second qualifying singles match of the day at 5 p.m.  The eight singles players that advance to the quarterfinals of the qualifying draw will advance to the main draw. The rest of the Boilermakers have to wait until Friday to begin tournament play.

Friday's action begins with the first round of main draw doubles. Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Mara Schmidt will start the morning for Purdue at 8 a.m. against Courtney Earnest and Kristel Sanders of Ball State. Imogen Golder and Gisella Pere are scheduled to compete at 9 a.m. ET versus Lexi Brand and Nayara Moraes of Middle Tennessee State. Daniela Vidal and Lynda Xepoleas earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will play at 10 a.m. against Lyn Yee Choo and Anna Gerbassi of East Tennessee State.

The singles main draw is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday. Bernard-Feigenbaum is scheduled to be in the first group of singles matches on the court. The freshman will face Tiffany Tavares of Tennessee. Schmidt is also slated to be among the first on the court. The junior is scheduled to play Stephanie Fox of Kentucky. Kapitany will get her singles tournament started at 2:15 p.m. The freshman will face Jenna Nurik of Chattanooga. Vidal earned the No. 14 seed in the tournament. She is scheduled to play Alix Thurman of Miami University at 2:30. Xepoleas also picked up a seed in the singles main draw. The sophomore earned the No. 7 spot and will face Ayaka Terashi of Ball State.

Pere and Golder won't start singles until Friday evening. Pere is scheduled to step on the courts at 6:45 p.m. against the No. 4 qualifier from Thursday singles play. Golder will be among the last group to play in the first round of main draw singles. The senior will play Alex Bastock of Wright State at 8:15 p.m.
