WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team is back in action this weekend with a trip to the Great Lakes State. The Boilermakers will compete in the Michigan State Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational on Friday through Sunday.
Four individuals will make the trip for Purdue. Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum earned a spot in Flight A and will take on Patton of Xavier in the bottom half of the bracket. The freshman won the Flight Four title a week ago at the IU Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. She has a perfect 2-0 singles record for the fall.
Imogen Golder is in Flight B for Purdue. The senior will take on Wolf of Xavier. Golder qualified for the finals in Flight Two last week at the IU Invite. That match, however, was not played because she was scheduled to play teammate Krisztina Kapitany. Golder's classmate Gisella Pere is in Flight C for the Boilermakers. The senior will take on Berestetska of Akron in the top half of the bracket.
Claudia Escribens is in Flight Four at the Spartan Invite. Escribens took third place a week ago in Flight Four at the IU Invite. Escribens is scheduled to play McNulty of Dayton.
The Boilers have two doubles teams in the tournament. Golder and Pere will face a Toledo duo in Flight A. Bernard-Feigenbaum and Escribens are also in Flight A and will face a team from Miami University.
The Spartan Invite has 12 teams participating including Big Ten foes Michigan State and Wisconsin. Start times were not announced, but matches will be going on all day each of the three days. Results and a recap will be posted to PurdueSports.com following each day's completion.
