Final Results

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Purdue women's tennis team concluded play at the Michigan Fall Invite by taking a pair of doubles matches and four of six singles contests against Tulane on Sunday.

The Boilermakers spilt with Tulane in doubles action, taking wins at the Nos. 1 and 4 postions. Mara Schmidt and Krisztina Kapitany picked up an 8-4 victory over Klara Vyskocilova and Ipek Birol. The win was the second of the tournament for the 12th-ranked tandem. The sophomore-freshman duo of Claudia Escribens and Natalia Davila defeated the combo team of Margaux Hyman (Tulane) and Zaina Sufi (DePaul), 8-5.

In singles action, Purdue registered a trio of straight-set victories. At No. 2, Schmidt posted a 6-2, 6-5, win over Jenny Hois. Andjela Djokovic made quick work of Emily Dvorak, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5. After blanking Hyman in the first set, 6-0, Kapitany finished off her Green Wave opponent 6-4 in the second set.

Freshman Nicole Robinson saw her first action as a Boilermaker in the No. 4 spot and prevailed in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, against Tulane's Meredith Maltby.

Fall competition will resume for the Purdue women's tennis team Oct. 4 - 6 at the Yale Invite in New Haven, Conn., and the All-American in Los Angeles, Calif.
