WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women’s tennis team is set to kick off its fall schedule on Friday at the University of Michigan. The Boilermakers will compete against Michigan, Tulane, DePaul, Notre Dame and Arizona State at the Michigan Fall Invite.

The three day tournament is set up as a hidden dual. Each team will play against another team in four doubles matches and then later a different team in eight singles matches, before every team has been played in both singles and doubles. Points will be awarded based on victories with eight points going to the winner of No. 1, seven to No. 2, six to No. 3, and so on. The team with the most points at the end of the week wins.

Purdue opens with singles against Notre Dame on Friday at 9:30 a.m. ET. The Boilermakers are led by senior Mara Schmidt and juniors Lynda Xepoleas and Daniela Vidal. The team is also traveling sophomores Krisztina Kapitany and Claudia Escribens. The tournament will be the first opportunity for talented freshmen Natalia Davila, Nicole Robinson and Andjela Djokovic to compete for the Boilermakers.

The Boilermakers wrap up Friday’s action with a 1 p.m. singles match against Michigan. Purdue faced both Notre Dame and Michigan last season, with the Boilermakers defeating the Fighting Irish, but falling to Michigan twice.
