WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 21 Purdue women’s tennis team will host its first home dual match of the season against instate rival, Indiana. This match is also the first B1G matchup for both teams. The first serve between the Boilermakers and Hoosiers is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET on the Basham Courts inside the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Purdue (6-1, 0-0 Big Ten) returns home after a seven-match road stand that included wins over four ranked programs. The Boilermakers knocked off No. 45 Kansas State, No. 65 Wichita State, No. 19 Notre Dame, and No. 35 Washington State. Last weekend, Purdue won 6-1 over Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Gisella Pere are both undefeated in singles play on the year. Senior, Pere, is 6-0 with all of her wins coming at No. 6 while Bernard-Feigenbaum is 5-0 with her wins coming at No. 4. The Boilermakers doubles team of Pere and Imogen Golder are 5-0 on the year with all of their wins coming at No. 3.
Indiana (10-3, 0-0 Big Ten) is coming off home victories against then-No. 66 DePaul and UNC-Wilmington last weekend. The Hoosiers are led by its doubles team, Sophie Garre and Leslie Hureau. The duo is ranked No. 44 nationally. Indiana is looking to snap a two-match skid with the Boilers.
Saturday’s match is the Big Ten opener for both teams. Purdue did play Northwestern earlier this season, though the match does not count towards conference standings because it occurred during ITA Kick Off Weekend and was tournament play.
Admission is free at the Schwartz Tennis Center for all Purdue tennis. Live results will be available on PurdueSports.com.
