By Al Pinter Wooten's 40-Second Bio Junior Stephanie Wooten decided to start playing tennis while being bored at her sister's tennis lessons. Wooten picked up a racket and would hit a ball against a wall. With some time and practice she became a four-time Texas class 3A state champion. She enjoys leading and bringing energy to her team with big singles wins, but she also enjoys doubles because she has a partner to pump her up. Wooten was bound for success from the start. She had a sister to look up to and follow in the foot steps of, and parents that support her talent. She attended Crandall High School in Combine, Texas, where she earned four state championships, plus four district and regional championships. The Dallas Morning News named her High School Player of the Year in 2002 and 2004 and she was ranked as high as 34th in 16-and-under national rankings. She chose Purdue because head coach Mat Iandolo is a very positive person and the girls were very team oriented. Now in her third year, Wooten is considered a leader of this year's young Purdue squad even though she hasn't seen much playing time due to an injury. Her talents are missed. As a sophomore in 2005-06, Wooten compiled an overall doubles record of 14-7, including an 8-2 mark against Big Ten opponents. In singles, she posted a 10-9 record playing at the No. 3 and 4 positions. Wooten's Quick Answer Session Favorite Food? Favorite Desert? Favorite Animal? Favorite Music? Favorite TV shows?
