West Lafayette, Ind.- The Purdue women's tennis team finished up Day Two at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington. One day remains in the hidden duals tournament.
The women first competed against Notre Dame in doubles. The Boilermakers swept the Irish in all three matches. Lara Bugarello and Brooke Beier defeated Brooke Buck and Lauren Connelly 8-5, while Stephanie Wooten and Hala Sufi beat Sarah Jane Connelly and Kristina Stastny 8-5. Amy Walgenbach and Brittany Minna won over Bailey Louderback and Liz Donahue 9-8.
Purdue then took on DePaul in doubles. Burgarello and Shawna Zuccarini defeated Marina Parashkevova and Petra Rehusova 8-4. Wooten and Sufi fell to Gergana Ganeva and Beatrix Csordas 8-5 and Walgenbach and Minna lost to Brenda Leung and Bojana Murisic 8-3.
In singles, Purdue faced IU. Wooten won against Laura McGaffigan 1-6, 6-4, 10-7. Beier lost to Brianna Williams 6-2, 6-4 and Walgenbach fell to Dominika Walterova 6-2, 6-3. Zuccarini lost to Cecile Perton 6-2, 6-2. Minna was also defeated by Kara Zeder 6-2, 6-1. The highlight of the afternoon came when Sufi upset nationally ranked number 37 Dora Vastag 2-6, 6-0, 12-10.
The Boilermakers will finish their fall season tomorrow morning against Notre Dame.
