CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Purdue women's tennis doubles team of Nicole Robinson and Claudia Escribens earned a spot in the Green Doubles championship, while No. 125 Mara Schmidt and Daniela Vidal each punched a ticket into the quarterfinals of the Orange Singles draw Friday at the Miami Invite. Saturday's doubles championships and place matches will get underway at 10 a.m. ET, followed by singles championship and consolation quarter and semifinals.

Robinson and Escribens opened with an 8-5 decision of Miami's Deborah Suarez and Lina Lileikite in the quarterfinals of the Green Doubles draw. They then edged Allie Robbins and Mai El Kamash of Auburn, 8-7, to earn a spot in the finals. It was the duo's fourth-straight win since Oct. 6. Robinson and Escribens will face another Hurricane team in Melissa Bolivar and Kelsey Laurente in the championship.

On the backside of the Green Doubles draw, Andjela Djokovic and Natalia Davila rebounded from their 8-3 quarterfinal loss to Auburn's Michala Kucharova and Reka Muller with an 8-5 win over Akemi Maehama and Cristina Valladeres of Barry. The freshmen tandem pushed into the consolation finals, where they will meet Miami's Suarez and Lileikite.

In the Orange Doubles draw, it will be an all-Purdue battle for third place as No. 12 Mara Schmidt and Krisztine Kapitany will play teammates Daniela Vidal and Lynda Xepoleas.

One round of singles action came at the conclusion of doubles. Schmidt cruised past Barry's Kimmy Twelker, 6-1, 6-2, for a quarterfinal match with No. 54 Kelsey Laurente of Miami. Vidal registered her first upset as a Boilermaker, taking down Miami's No. 69 Clementina Riobuneo in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Another ranked opponent awaits the freshman in the quarterfinals, No. 85 Mai El Kamash of Miami.
