It didn't take long for the Purdue women's tennis team to get back on track. The Boilermakers defeated Miami of Ohio 8-1 to rebound from a 5-4 loss at 45th-ranked Marquette and improve their record to 7-6 (3-1 Big Ten).
Purdue won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches in the victory. Senior Mary Beth Maggart, freshman Erika Quebe, sophomore Shannon Taheny, freshman Lisa Walgenbach and senior Hally Cohen all picked up straight set singles wins. And for the first time this season, the Boilermakers swept the doubles point, as Maggart and sophomore Jennifer Embry, the 30th-ranked team in the country, earned a victory at No. 1. Taheny and Quebe teamed up for a win at No. 2, while Cohen and junior Laura Avgerinos were successful at No. 3. The Boilermakers return to the court on April 7 when they host 24th-ranked Kentucky.
