Women's Tennis Loses Big Ten Opener

MADISON, Wis. - The Purdue women's tennis team fell 5-2 at 25th-ranked Wisconsin in their Big Ten opener. The Boilermakers' record now stands at 2-4 (0-1 Big Ten).

Purdue picked up its two points on singles wins by freshmen Erika Quebe and Lisa Walgenbach. Quebe defeated Marjon Copier 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 position, while Walgenbach downed Roz Sweeney 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 slot.

Quebe teamed with sophomore Shannon Taheny to put up a fight at the No. 2 doubles position before succumbing 9-7 to Andrea Nathan and Tracy Zobrist. Purdue lost all three doubles matches.

The Boilermakers look to rebound at 22nd-ranked Northwestern tomorrow.
