WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Rice at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium in Houston.

In singles play, Blair Disesa beat Gretchen Haynor 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1. At No. 2, Lauren Archer overcame Amy Walgenbach 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 3, Tracie Chong beat Hala Sufi 6-3, 7-6. Alyssa Rodriguez topped Karen Chao 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4. At Nos. 5 and 6, Shawna Zuccarini beat Yasmin Fisher 6-4, 6-3 and Annie Goodrich defeated Melissa Woods 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.

In doubles play, Purdue prevailed at No. 1 as Haynor and Woods beat Archer and Disesa 8-5. Rice won at Nos. 2 and 3 as Chao and Chong topped Sufi and Zuccarini 8-3 and Fisher and Goodrich beat Lara Burgarello and Rodriguez 9-8.

The loss drops Purdue to 3-5. Rice is now 6-5. The Boilermakers play Sunday at TCU.
