Maggart Named to All-Big Ten Team
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Mary Beth Maggart, a junior on the Purdue women's tennis team, was named to the Big Ten's All Conference Team for the second consecutive year. In addition, Maggart was named Sportswoman-of-the-Year for the second time in as many years.
Maggart is one of 12 members of the All-Conference Team and is the only Purdue selection. She had a 27-14 overall record this year and compiled a 12-9 record at the No. 1 singles position this spring. She was 6-5 in Big Ten matches, going against some of the highest ranked players in the country. Maggart, herself, was ranked 44th in the last ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings (April 15). The Boilermakers finished their season at 8-15 (4-8 Big Ten).
"These honors show that Mary Beth is not only a very good tennis player, but she is also a great person," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "She has tremendous heart and character and wants to be the best. We are very lucky to have her and look forward to seeing what she will accomplish in her senior year."
Maggart is a native of Spring, Texas (Klein High School) and is majoring in physical therapy. She is the 12th member of her family to attend Purdue.
