Women's Tennis Set for Three Challenges
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team will play at 10th-ranked Pepperdine tomorrow. Though the Waves are highly ranked, the Boilers (4-5, 1-1 Big Ten) are looking to pull off an upset and halt a three-match losing streak in the process.
It won't be easy, as Pepperdine boasts the 30th- and 34th-ranked players in the nation. It will be the task of junior Mary Beth Maggart to stop the Waves' Angela Lawrence (30th) in No. 1 singles. Freshman Jennifer Embry also draws stiff competition in Pepperdine's Isabel Petrov (34th) in the No. 2 singles slot.
After Pepperdine, Purdue squares off against more outstanding competition. On Mar. 12, the Boilers play at UC-Santa Barbara, ranked 37th nationally. On Mar. 13, San Diego State, the 40th-ranked team in the country, plays host to the Boilers.
