Maggart, Purdue Earn National Rankings

Mary Beth Maggart (Spring, Texas, Klein High School), a junior on the Purdue women's tennis team, is currently ranked as the 45th player in the country, according to the latest Rolex Collegiate Tennis Rankings. In addition, Purdue earned a national ranking of 54th. The rankings are complied by Rolex and are determined by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's average points-per-match computer formula.

Maggart had an outstanding fall season, compiling a 16-5 record in just over a month of play. She advanced to the semifinal at the ITA Region IV Tournament in Madison, Wis. over Nov. 7-10. At the ITA All-American Qualifying Tournament in Pacific Palisades, Calif., on Oct. 24, Maggart defeated Lauren Nikolauds of William and Mary, then the sixth-ranked player in the country, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Also, Maggart advanced to the No. 1 flight finals at the Indiana Invitational on Oct. 20, and won two matches at the competitive Arizona State Invitational in mid-October.
