WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- With Purdue women's swimming and diving's first-semester competition schedule complete, the Boilermakers are ranked among the Top 20 nationally by both the CSCAA and CollegeSwimming.com.

As of the Nov. 26 biweekly CSCAA Top 25 poll, Purdue was ranked 17th. The Boilermakers were also ranked 14th by CollegeSwimming.com following the completion of the Ohio State Invitational, Nov. 22-24 in Columbus. CollegeSwimming.com bases its rankings on team performance points compiled over the previous three weeks.

Selected Purdue swimmers were originally scheduled to compete at the Bloomington Swim Club Winter Invitational the first weekend of December, but the coaches opted to remove the meet from the team's schedule. The Purdue divers are still slated to take part in the USA Diving Winter Nationals later this month in Austin, Texas.

The Boilermakers will now concentrate on final exams on campus, beginning Dec. 9. The Purdue swimming and diving teams are scheduled to travel to Hawaii for their winter training programs this year. The women are scheduled to depart on Dec. 27. An outdoor dual meet vs. the University of Hawaii is tentatively set for Saturday, Jan. 4.

Through the completion of the first-semester schedule, Carly Mercer leads the Boilers with nine individual victories. She was also the team's top individual point scorer (56 points) at the Ohio State Invitational. Casey Matthews has won five events and Allie Davis, Meagan Lim and Rhiannon Sheets have each posted four individual victories. Grace Hernandez and Sheets have each contributed to a team-high five relay wins.
