WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Juan Rodela of the Purdue men's swim team set what was believed to be the Mexican national record in the 200-meter backstroke at the US Senior National meet in Federal Way, Wash. The junior from Zacatecas, Mexico swam a 2:04.89, bettering the last posted national record of 2:05.09. Teammate Javier Diaz finished 33rd in the 200-meter free in a time of 1:54.24.
The women's 400-meter free relay team of Missy Bromley, Lisa Dolansky, Patricia Finnerty and Ginger Lakos placed seventh, earning them a medal and a place on the victory stand. Teammate Briana Reina, seeded second to last in the 100-meter breast, swam a 1:14.02 to move up to 24th place. Bromley swam a career best in the 50-meter free in a time of 27.30.
