Meet Psych Sheet Featuring All Events & Individual Entries
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker Aquatic Center will serve as a host site of a USA Swimming Grand Prix this weekend (Thursday through Saturday), a three-day, six-session long course meet that will feature members of the Purdue swim teams competing.
Members of the Purdue swim-dive programs, the Purdue Rec Sports staff and the Boilermaker Aquatics swim club will join forces to host the Purdue University Invitational, a meet which men's head coach Dan Ross said is expected to feature approximately 315 swimmers from across the country as well as some international entries.
Daily start times feature morning preliminaries at 8:30 a.m. and evening finals at 6 p.m. Specific events will be earmarked for each day of competition. Visit the live results page or meet psych sheet for the order of events during each session.
Admission is $20 for the entire meet or $10 per day. Heat and psych sheets will also be on sale for spectators.
USA Swimming also has a Grand Prix meet this weekend at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis. The Purdue men were slated to compete in that meet, but overcrowding among entries led to the addition of the Purdue Invitational Grand Prix. Competitors at both Grand Prix events will be looking to post or improve on their U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying times.
The Boilermaker Aquatic Center annually serves as the host site of a USA Swimming Early Bird meet in May. Purdue's home pool also hosted the U.S. Open in the summer of 2006.
A number of Purdue swimmers from both the men's and women's teams have already qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials, set for June 25-July 2 in Omaha, Neb.
The college swimming season features short course yardage events with 25-yard lengths of the pool. Long course meters are the standard for national and international competition. Long course events feature 50-meter lengths of the pool.
