Complete List of NCAA Qualifiers
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Three Purdue women's swimmers have been selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Championships, including two that will be making the second appearances of their careers.
Emily Fogle, Lauren Roth and Rhiannon Sheets will represent the Boilermakers at the NCAA Championships, set for March 15-17 in Auburn, Ala. Fogle, a sophomore, qualified for the second year in a row. Roth was one of the nine Boilers to compete at the 2010 meet when Purdue served as the host of the national event. Sheets is a freshman.
Once a swimmer is invited to the NCAA Championships, she has the opportunity to compete individually in any event in which she has posted an NCAA provisional-qualifying time (B Cut). Individually, the swimmers with the Top 30 or 31 times in an event earn auto invites.
Fogle posted NCAA automatic-qualifying times (A Cuts) in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Big Ten Championships. Her school record times in the 100 (59.53) and 200 breast (2:08.72) ranked sixth and seventh nationally, respectively. She will also have the option to compete in the 200 IM.
Roth's season-best time in the 500 freestyle (4:42.12), a school record mark, was 30th nationally. She will also have the option to compete in the 200 free and 200 butterfly.
Sheets' program-record time of 1:56.67 in the 200 butterfly ranked 19th nationally. She will also have the option to compete to in the 100 fly and 200 free.
