WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- During the Big Ten Triple Duals this weekend at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center, the Purdue Swimming and Diving teams will be honoring the life of Tom Reiter. He was an associate athletic director at Purdue University and the sport supervisor for men's and women's swimming & diving since 2010.

Tom was a true Boilermaker, spending a total of 19 years as a member of the athletics staff as a basketball coach, compliance director and assistant/associate AD. He passed away Jan. 24, 2014, after a year-long battle with cancer.

The swimming & diving teams will be collecting donations during the Friday night session of the weekend meet to make a gift to BeTheMatch.org, an organization that has managed the largest and most diverse bone marrow registry in the world for the past 25 years. While also conducting research to improve transplant outcomes and provide support and resources for patients, this organization is special to the Reiter family.

Tom was a tremendous supporter and advocate for Purdue swimming and diving. He was often seen at the pool during practices, competitions and occasionally traveled with the teams. His comical sense of humor and talent for finding the best in everyone will always be remembered by the staff and student-athletes at Purdue. His impact on all of Purdue athletics will continue to live on through the programs, facilities and relationships that were developed during his time in West Lafayette.

Come help the Boilermakers support a wonderful organization in BeTheMatch.org and honor a wonderful man. Tom Reiter will forever be a part of the Purdue Family.

Action at the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals featuring Purdue, Minnesota and Wisconsin begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.
