WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue head diving coach Adam Soldati will be traveling to England for the 2012 FINA Diving World Cup in February after being selected as an official member of the USA Diving coaching staff.

Former Purdue diver David Boudia has earned a spot on the USA Diving team headed to England for the World Cup, set for Feb. 20-26 in London. He will compete in the 10-meter platform events, both individually and in the synchronized competition with partner Nick McCrory.

With the ultimate goal of qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Boudia continues to train with Soldati. Boudia remains a regular at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center although he no longer competes for the Purdue.

Soldati is a three-time CSCAA National Coach of the Year and five-time Big Ten Conference Diving Coach of the Year honoree. He helped coach Boudia to six career NCAA national titles and had five different divers (three male, two female) score points at the 2011 national championship meets. Danny Cox, J.P. Perez and Boudia all reached the finals of the platform competition at the Men's NCAAs, and Erin Mertz finished as high as third in the 3-meter event at the Women's NCAAs.

Last summer, Soldati served as a member of the USA Diving coach staff as Boudia won a silver medal at the FINA World Championships in China, becoming the first American man to medal in the event at the World Championships since 1986. Boudia followed that up by winning the 10-meter platform individual and synchronized national titles at USA Diving's Winter Nationals in December, earning his spot on the World Cup team in the process.

Stanford University head diving coach Rick Schavone has been selected as the head coach of USA Diving for the 2012 FINA World Cup. Dr. Jeff Huber, the diving coach at Indiana University, was named the primary assistant coach. Duke's Drew Johansen and Georgia's Dan Laak will join Soldati as official members of the coaching staff for the FINA World Cup.

The FINA World Cup will be held at the London Aquatics Center and serve as an Olympic qualifier. However, the qualifying system only locks up berths in specific events for Team USA at the Olympics. The individual Olympic qualifiers are selected at the U.S. Olympic Trials, set for Seattle in June.

USA Diving's team traveling to the World Cup event will first participate in a training camp in Sheffield, England from Feb. 10-16. Of the 14 athletes representing USA Diving at the 2012 FINA World Cup, six are from Big Ten schools: Indiana's Amy Cozad, Laura Ryan and Christina Loukas; Kelci Bryant of Minnesota; Katie Bell of Ohio State and Boudia.
