OXFORD, Ohio - Four Boilers won multiple events as Purdue women's swimming and diving won 15 of the 16 events to defeat Miami (Ohio), 175-117, in the dual meet opener for both teams Friday afternoon.

Emily Fogle led the way with three individual victories, sweeping the breaststroke events and also capturing the 200 IM. She also swam the breaststroke leg on the victorious 200 medley relay. Lauren Gustafson (50 and 100 free), Lauren Roth (200 free and 200 fly) and Kristen Gilson (100 and 200 back) also won multiple events. Gustafson and Roth led off and anchored the victorious 400 free relay as well.

Rhiannon Sheets and Courtney Tumbush managed to win an event and finish second in another. Sheets captured the 100 fly and finished second to Roth in the 200. Tumbush won the 1000 free and finished second to Colleen Drew in the 500. Carly Mercer swam on both of Purdue's relay winners and posted top-three finishes in both free sprints.

"There were some good races after a great week of training," Purdue head coach John Klinge said. "Our younger swimmers were a little better at attacking their races."

Klinge added that Gilson was the Boilermaker Award recipient after the meet. She will choose the next winner following Purdue's Nov. 4 dual against Notre Dame.
