WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's women's swimming and diving team (4-7) fell to Indiana (2-5) 186-114 Saturday at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

The Boilermakers won five events, including the 3-meter and platform. Freshman Kara Cook led a Purdue sweep of the top three spots on tower, scoring 293.55 points.

Senior Katie Berg was second with 254.10 points and Emily Wetzel placed third with 251.25 points.

Sophomore Ashley Karnes remains unbeaten in springboard competition in 2008 at 7-0. Karnes won the 3-meter title with 300.45 points.

In the pool, Purdue received wins from Allie Smith in the 200 back (2:02.11), Ariel Martin in the 50 free (23.65) and Nicole Weatherman in the 1000 free (9:57.44). Weatherman also posted an NCAA provisional cut in the 500 free with a second-place and personal best time of 4:51.59.

"We battled hard, but IU left with the win," said assistant coach Darlene Renie. "I'm proud of the girls. They raced hard, posted a lot of season bests and never let the score get them down. We knew Indiana was tough but it didn't stop us from racing hard in every event."

Purdue remains home next weekend to play host to the annual Big Ten Quadrangular, which features Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. The four-way dual concludes the Boilermakers' regular season.
