2015-16: NCAA Championships Qualifier (800 Free Relay)... Big Ten Distinguished Scholar... CSCAA Scholar All-America... Academic All-Big Ten... Petric competed primarily in the distance freestyle and individual medley events… broke her own program record in the 400 IM (4:12.75) at the Big Ten Championships… helped the 800 free relay team qualify for the NCAA Championships for the fourth year in a row… posted season-best times in the 200 (1:48.05) and 500 free (4:44.40) at the Purdue Invitational, the 200 mark also being a career best… accounted for 50 team points at the Big Ten Championships to rank fourth on the team, scoring in three events… finished seventh in the A final of the 400 IM, fifth in the B final of the 500 free and 14th overall in the mile, posting a season-best time (16:27.04) in the mile… also accounted for 50 team points to help the Boilermakers win the Purdue Invitational, winning the 400 IM and finishing fourth in the 500 and 1650 free… also swam the leadoff leg on the victorious 800 free relay at the Purdue Invite… won her heats of the 200 and 500 free at the triple dual with Notre Dame and Ohio State… finished her career as part of the record holding 800 free relay team, an event in which she was part of three of the top four fastest times in program history.

Petric competed primarily in the distance freestyle and IM events... qualified for the NCAA Championships with the Purdue relay teams for the second year in a row, swimming as part of the 800 free relay team at Big Tens that posted an NCAA A cut and the second-fastest time in program history... season-best times in the 500 (4:45.05) and 1650 free (16:23.45) along with the 400 IM (4:14.58) were all tops on the team in 2013-14... now ranks among the top three in program history in the 500 (4:45.05, 3rd), 1000 (9:52.42, 3rd) and 1650 free (16:23.45, 3rd) as well as the 400 IM (4:14.58, 2nd)... season-best time in the 200 back (2:03.75) from the Big Ten Triple Duals also ranked third on team in 2013-14... accounted for 23 team points at the Big Ten Championships as the only Purdue swimmers to score in three different events... while posting season-best times in 500 and 1650 free along with the 400 IM at Big Tens, qualified for the A final of the 400 IM, took third in the B final of 500 free and finished 11th overall in the mile... helped the 800 free relay team finish second in prelims and 17th overall at NCAAs... accounted for 18 team points at the Ohio State Invitational, scoring in three events and posting a season-best time in the 200 free (1:49.88)... in dual meet action, won the 200 free vs. Michigan State, the 500 free vs. Notre Dame and the 1000 free at Hawaii... helped the 400 free relay team win in consecutive days vs. Michigan and Michigan State... competed in the 100 back and 200 IM at the Indiana Intercollegiates.

Petric competed primarily in the distance freestyle events... qualified for the NCAA Championships as part of the 800 free relay team, helping the group place 18th at the national championship meet... along with Allie Davis, joined Emily Fogle and Rhiannon Sheets as recent Boilers to qualify for NCAAs as a freshman... had Purdue's season-best time in the 1000 free (10:02.78) and also ranked among the top five on the team in 2012-13 in the 200 (1:48.92, 4th), 500 (4:46.65, 2nd) and 1650 free (16:32, 2nd)... season-best time in the 1000 free was in the BTN live TV dual meet against Indiana... posted top times in other three events at the Big Ten Championships... ranks among the Purdue all-time Top 10 in the 500 (5th), 1000 (9th) and 1650 free (6th)... accounted for nine points at the Big Ten Championships by placing 12th overall in the mile and fifth in the B final of the 500 free... also qualified for the C final of the 200 free at Big Tens... swept the 500 and 1000 free in the dual meet win at Michigan State... also won the 1000 free at Northwestern... accounted for 21 points at the Purdue Invitational by placing eighth overall in the mile, third in the B final of the 200 free and fifth in the B final of the 500 free.
Before Purdue: Petric established three new national records for her age group in her native Slovenia... European Juniors champion... competed in the World Championships for Slovenia as well as the European Championships four times... helped her club team win three national championships.
Personal: Full name is Nika Karlina Petric... born in Ljubljana, Slovenia... parents are Darjan and Karmen Petric... father was a competitive swimmer and her mother was Nika's coach... older brother Jan swam for the Purdue men's team from 2012-15... majoring in interior design in the college of liberal arts.
