Women's Swimming Receives Commitment in Early Signing Period
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue head women's swimming coach Cathy Wright-Eger announced the signing of Katie Mullarkey Thursday.
Mullarkey, currently attending Salpointe Catholic high school in Tucson, Ariz., is a state finalist in both the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley. She ia also a junior national qualifier in those events as well as the 50 freestyle and the 100 and 200 breaststroke. "I really enjoyed recruiting Katie," Wright-Eger said. "She is a mature, strong-minded young lady that is getting faster in the water each season. I am looking forward to working with her here at Purdue." Mullarkey is a member of the national honor society and spends time volunteering at the Casa de los Ninos, a children's home in the Tucson area.
The women's team is in action Friday and Saturday at the Arizona State Invitational in Phoenix.
