Watts, Kovacs Lead Swim Teams into Weekend Battles
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Boilermakers men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be in action this weekend at Lambert Pool. The men, led by junior All-American Vilmos Kovacs resume action Friday at 6 p.m. against Eastern Michigan after a two week layoff. Kovacs owns the Big Ten's top time in the 200 individual medley this season. Sophomore teammate Gerald Koh has the fourth best time in the 200 IM and ranks sixth in the conference in the 200 backstroke while the men's 200 freestyle relay team brings the Big Ten's second best time in their event into the meet. The women continue their season Saturday at 9 a.m. against Penn State. Senior Marisa Watts carries the Big Ten's best time in the 1650 freestyle into the meet along with two other top-five times. Freshman diver Kara Hajek is coming off a tremendous performance at Iowa last weekend, as she accumulated the conference's third-highest point total in the 1-meter competition this season.
The Boilermakers will not appear at home again until January 17.
