Watts Selected for U.S. Swim Elite Camp

Purdue junior Marisa Watts has been selected to participate in the United States elite distance camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The camp, which is set for June 7-22, is limited to a select group of the national's high school and college All-America swimmers.

"This is quite a major honor for Marisa because they are only taking about the top eight Americans in each event," coach Cathy Wright-Eger said. "She swam a great mile (1650 free) at NCAA's and that really helped her get selected."

Watts was invited to the camp after earning All-America honorable mention honors in the 1650 freestyle at the NCAA Championships on March 22 in Indianapolis. in the 1650 free, Watts swam a school-record time of 16:28.63. She also holds the school record in the 1000 free at 9:55.92.
