WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker softball team and coaching staff will start out the new year helping athletes from second grade to high school seniors improve their softball skills at a pair of Holiday Clinics, January 5-6.

The beginners clinic, which will take place on Jan. 5, will include athletes from second to eighth grade. The advanced clinic, which will be held on Jan. 6, will include players from ninth to 12th grade with at least three years of travel ball experience.

Each clinic will feature three sessions, one for pitching, one for hitting and one for defense. The cost is $75 per session or $175 for all three sessions.

Athletes at both clinics will learn and develop softball skills in an enjoyable environment. All campers will have the opportunity to play and learn the position of their choice, and will receive quality instruction. Campers can expect defensive position development, in either infield, outfield, pitching or catching, advanced skill development, including throwing, fielding, hitting and baserunning, and specialized hitting and running drills. Camps will also involve competitive skill games.

A number of current Boilermaker softball players as well as the complete coaching staff of Maher, assistant coach Linda Garza and assistant coach Boo Gillete, will be on hand to act as camp counselors and instructors.

Carie Dever-Boaz, head coach of the National Pro Fastpitch champion Washington Glory, will be a guest coach at the clinic. Dever-Boaz, a three-time All-American at pitcher and third base at Fresno State, spent eight years as the head coach at Arkansas, before stints as an assistant coach at Florida and Virginia. The National Pro Fastpitch Manager of the Year travels the world working clinics and giving speeches about pitching, while also coaching the NPF Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of the Year with the Glory.

A registration form is available at either conf.purdue.edu/camps or in the sidebar of the softball page at purduesports.com.
