WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker softball team took time out from its own training and preparation for the fall season to give back to the youth programs of the area last week.
The Purdue coaches and players spent Sunday afternoon working with travel ball teams from around the state at the National Softball Association softball camp at Wea Park. More than 250 NSA campers took part in the event which involved hitting, defense, and base running. The Boilermakers provided instruction during the two-hour clinic to help enhance the skills of the young players.
This is the second year the softball team has helped at the camp.
The Boilermakers kick off their fall season with a pair of games on Sunday, Oct. 7. Purdue takes on St. Joseph's at 9:30 a.m. and Butler at 4:15 p.m. All games will take place at Boilermaker Softball Complex. Admission is free.
