WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A crane lifted an 8500 pound pedestrian bridge into place Thursday morning, marking the latest addition to the softball stadium construction site.

The bridge, which connects the sidewalk area to the south of Alexander Field and the Boilermaker Soccer Complex to the softball stadium area, is wide enough for an all-terrain utility vehicle to cross.

As the bridge was lifted into place, the brick walls of the clubhouse area continued to go up and digging was under way for the pressbox area and the affiliated underground utilities.

In the coming weeks, roof tresses and other steel work will begin to take shape.

The new stadium is scheduled to be completed for the 2015 season.
