WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Ground has been broken and visible progress will be made on the Boilermaker Softball Stadium construction site in the coming weeks and months. The excavators and bulldozers sprang into action moving dirt and digging ditches for the underground drainage system.

The latest report is that the project is on schedule and moving right along.
- The majority of the underground incoming utilities and the storm and drainage system are in place.
- Excavation work, including a sizable retention pond beyond the right field wall, has begun. Soils are being treated for lime stabilization. The treated dirt is the being moved, steamrolled and flattened to make the footprints for on-site buildings.
- Foundations have been poured for the third base dugout as well as a retaining wall along the left field line. Crews will begin digging the first base dugout and then form and pour that as well as the retaining wall up the right field line.
- Within the next two weeks, work will begin on the first base dugout, Duke Energy will begin work on the incoming power lines, the back wall of the third base dugout will be formed and crews will continue to build up the dirt footprints where the on-site buildings will go.

Concrete work continues on the first and third base dugout and bullpen areas. Soils continue to be treated for lime stabilization. Next up, crews will move on to creating the structure of the indoor hitting facility and clubhouse areas. Drilling also will begin soon for the infrastructure of light poles in the concourse area.
