WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Andie Varsho added another award to her preseason resume as she was named to the College Sports Madness Big Ten Preseason All-Conference first team on Tuesday.

Varsho, who was selected as one of the Top 50 selections on the USA Softball Player of the Year Watch List last month, garnered postseason accolades from College Sports Madness the last two seasons, earning first team honors in 2013 and a second team nod in 2012.

Varsho boasts a career .392 batting average with 100 runs, 99 RBI and a .530 slugging percentage with 47 extra-base hits, including 10 triples, which rank fifth all-time among Boilermakers. The senior owns a career on-base percentage of .455 and has also swiped 79 bases, a tally which ranks third all-time at Purdue. Defensively, the Chili, Wis., native has compiled a .993 fielding percentage.

In 2013, Varsho garnered first team All-Mideast Region and first team All-Big Ten honors after batting .415, an average that ranked 41st nationally. She also ranked 42nd nationally in stolen bases per game (0.53) and 49th in on-base percentage (.500). The outfielder led the Big Ten in stolen bases (29) and tied the Purdue game record for stolen bases (3) and runs (4). Varsho also excelled in the classroom, earning third team Academic All-America and Academic All-Big Ten honors.

Her sophomore season brought a .339 average, 30 RBI and 30 runs and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, along with College Sports Madness Big Ten All-Conference second team honors.

As a rookie in 2011, Varsho earned first team All-Midwest Region and third team All-Big Ten accolades and was named as a four-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week and one time Big Ten Player of the Week selection. She ranked among the top 30 nationally in four categories: seventh in stolen bases per game (0.68), 14th in triples (5), 16th in triples per game (0.10) and 26th in batting average (.426).

The Boilermakers begin their 2014 campaign at the Louisiana Classic in Lafayette, La., this weekend. Purdue is set to face North Carolina and Northern Iowa on Saturday and No. 10 Texas on Sunday at the event.
