Meet The Boilers: Freshman Kaylah Hampton

Catcher likes Carlos Beltran, dreams of visiting her grandparents in Hawaii and becoming an English or history educator.

2016: Academic All-Big Ten ... saw action in 41 games, starting 32, 28 at catcher and four as the designated player … batted at a .244 clip with three doubles and two home runs … accounted for 11 runs, including the game winner against Syracuse, and eight RBI, including the game winners against Iowa and Butler … put together a four-game hit streak from February 12 to 19 … reached base in seven straight games Feb. 12 to 26 … tallied multiple hits in four games, including a three-hit effort at Iowa … posted four perfect days at the plate … drew 10 walks and was hit by a pitch three times … laid down three sacrifice bunts and lifted one sac fly … defensively, made good on 98 percent of her 192 chances … has thrown out 10 of 39 potential base stealers.

2015: Saw action in 56 games, starting 53 at catcher, two as the designated player ... batted .267 with 32 RBI, 17 runs, eight doubles, one triple and eight home runs ... drove in a team-best eight game-winning RBI and three game-tying efforts ... scored three game-tying runs ... reached base via hit, walk or hit by pitch in 43 of 56 games, including a stretch of 13 straight games Feb. 6 to Feb. 21 ... posted multiple hits in seven games, including five perfect days at the plate and a 3-for-3 effort against Nebraska ... drew 24 walks and was hit by a pitch six times ... stole two bases and laid down one sacrifice bunt ... batted .237 in Big Ten play with eight RBI and four doubles ... defensively, posted a .983 fielding percentage, making good on 399 of 406 chances ... threw out 12 potential base stealers (37 of 49).

High School: An all-state selection ... earned first team all-section honors each of her four years, while guiding the team to a top six finish at AIA State playoffs in 2013 and a top four finish in 2014 ... as a senior, garnered second team all-state honors from AZ Central Sports as well as first team all-division and first team all-section accolades ...
