WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten announced Monday the selection of Lauren Mason as its Defensive Player of the Week and Parrissa Eyorokon as its Co-Offensive Player of the Week with Michigan's Katie Miller.

Monday's announcement marked the second time in two years that Mason and Eyorokon were recognized by the conference following a weekend sweep over Wisconsin and Northwestern. The Boilermakers defeated both schools on the road last season by scores of 2-1 and 1-0.

This year, playing at home, Purdue again beat the Wildcats, 2-1, then turned up the offense in a 4-0 win over the Badgers. The Boilermakers' shutout victory over Wisconsin was their 11th of the season, breaking the previous program season record of 10 set in 2002. Purdue also tied a program record with its 12th regular-season victory, matching win totals from 2000 and 2002.

For Mason, this week's certificate is her third of the season and sixth of her career. Mason earned this distinction for posting 12 saves through both matches, including 10 against the Badgers, which matched a career best. Mason also made 10 stops during a 3-1 home win against Illinois and in a NCAA Sweet 16 loss at North Carolina in 2003.

Mason leads the Big Ten with nine shutouts this season and is second with 64 saves and a .853 save percentage.

With two goals this weekend, Eyorokon leads the Big Ten with 19 points and is tied for first in goals with eight (Lisa Collison - Ohio State; Aubrey Aden-Buie - Penn State). Eyorokon provided the game-winner in the 50th minute against Northwestern on a one-timer blast from 25-yards back, and against Wisconsin, provided an insurance goal in the 49th minute after receiving an assist from Jordyn Shaffer.

The Boilermakers return to action this weekend with matches at Illinois Friday and Iowa on Sunday. Friday's match in Champaign will be broadcast over the internet beginning at 7:50 p.m. EDT with Mark Leddy and Andrew Staley providing the call.
