Soccer Captains Announced for 2018
April 20, 2018

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Head coach Drew Roff has announced that Hannah Mussallem, Dannah Williams and Maddy Duncan have been selected to serve as the team captains for Purdue women's soccer's upcoming 2018 season.

The Boilermakers close out their exhibition spring season this weekend when Illinois visits Folk Field for Sunday's 2 p.m. ET game. The match is open to the public. All games at Folk Field, spring and fall, feature free admission for all fans.

Mussallem and Williams are rising seniors. Duncan will be a junior in the fall. Together they have made a combined 78 starts during their Purdue careers. Mussallem has played in every game since the start of 2015 and started 36 straight. All three Boilermakers have scored goals in Big Ten play during their careers. They're also a versatile trio. Mussallem played forward as a freshman before moving to outside back the last two years. Williams has been a force as a center back and defensive midfielder. Duncan saw action at all three levels of the field as underclassman, making the majority of her 10 starts as a freshman at outside back.

Williams is in line to graduate with her bachelor's degree in just three years this fall. She represented Purdue Athletics at the fourth-annual Black Student-Athlete Summit in Austin, Texas, in January.

Duncan and Williams have both been chosen among a select group of nine student-athlete to serve as staff interns within Purdue Athletics this upcoming summer.

Mussallem's sister Ally is joining the program as part of an accomplished 11-player recruiting class for the 2018 season. They'll become the third set of sisters to be teammates at Purdue.

The Boilermakers defeated Wright State 4-0 in their April 15 spring game at Folk Field. Andrea Petrina (2), Hannah Melchiorre and Duncan were the goal scorers. Goalkeeper Marisa Bova is among that 11-player recruiting class and is already enrolled at Purdue after graduating high school early. She teamed with returning starter Katie Luce to post the shutout.

The Boilermakers are slated to return seven starters from their 10-win campaign in 2017, which was the program's most successful season of the decade.
