WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue women's soccer head coach Robert Klatte has announced a seven-player recruiting class set to join the Boilermakers for the 2014 season in the fall.
Signing up to play for Purdue includes: Erika Arkans (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon), Vanessa Korolas (Mississauga, Ontario/Goetz), Maddy Olson (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview), Andrea Petrina (Hamilton, Ontario/Cardinal Newman), Nicole Robertson (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley), Brea'Anna Sanders (Indianapolis/Pike) and Erika Yohn (Morgantown, W.Va./University).
"We really feel that this class combines athleticism, technical ability and competitiveness to ensure that we continue to make the strides necessary to get Purdue soccer back to competing for championships," Klatte said. "We added talent and depth to most every position. We're also fortunate to have eight starters back from last season."
Petrina and Robertson were both high-scoring standouts during their prep careers. Olson and Yohn are goalkeepers. Korolas and Sanders should also help the Boilermakers defensively.
Arkans, Petrina, Sanders and Yohn were all part of teams that won notable championships at the state or provincial levels. Korolas and Olson were standout performers in multiple sports. Korolas and Petrina were both named the top female athletes at their schools in Ontario. Yohn was selected as the West Virginia Goalkeeper of the Year as a high school junior.
