WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A new scoreboard was installed at the Boilermaker Soccer Complex the final week of January, representing one of the final additions to the facility renovations at the home of Purdue women's soccer over the last two years.
The new scoreboard displays similar game information as its predecessor, with sections for corner kicks and shots on goal totals to go along with the score and game clock. The visiting team's name will now be able to be displayed above the visiting team's stats.
The adjustable team name displays will also come in handy when Purdue hosts multiple-team tournaments, like the four-team Boilermaker Challenge Cup set for the weekend of Aug. 23-25, 2013. The Boilermaker Soccer Complex is also tentatively scheduled to host the eight-team Big Ten Tournament in November 2014.
Renovations on Purdue's home pitch began in the spring of 2011 and the new-look facility was officially unveiled for the 2012 season opener in August. Lights were installed in time for the 2011 campaign and the Boilers hosted their first-ever home night game Friday, Sept. 2 of that year, defeating Colorado. Beginning with that game, Purdue has played 12 matches under the lights over the last two seasons.
The team's new facilities on the west side of the field highlighted the complex's renovations. The new building houses locker rooms, team rooms, an athletic training room and concessions on the ground level. The new press box on the second floor allowed for live video webcasts of games through Purduesports.com and BTN.com to be offered for the first time.
Purdue held a rededication ceremony for the new-look facility Oct. 21 before a home game against Minnesota. The Boilermakers went 6-4-2 at home in 2012, posting their best home mark since 2009.
Purdue is scheduled to host Michigan and an Alumni Game at the Boilermaker Soccer Complex the weekend of April 13-14.
