WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Friday's Purdue-Milwaukee women's soccer game at the Varsity Soccer Complex has been postponed due to persistent rain showers, scattered lightning strikes and a tornado warning for the Tippecanoe County area.

The game could be rescheduled for the first week of October or Sunday, Oct. 28. More information about a makeup date will be announced later this season.

Kickoff was set for 7 p.m. but the players never officially took the field for warmups. Milwaukee also had its game last weekend at Illinois rescheduled from Sept. 1 to Sept. 3 due to heavy rain showers.

Purdue continues its current homestand, now five games in length, Sunday against West Virginia. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The Mountaineers played Duquesne to a 1-1 draw Thursday evening in Morgantown.
