Volunteer Assistant

Former Purdue goalkeeper Maureen (Carey) Allen joined the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, specializing in goalkeeper training, in the summer of 2014.

Allen played for head coach Robert Klatte and the Boilermakers from 2001-04, helping Purdue qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 2002 and 2003. She played in 32 games during her career, including 19 of the 20 contests in 2004. As a duel citizen of the USA and Ireland, she was selected to play for the Irish Women's National Team in 2005.

Allen will work with the Boilers' young goalkeeping corps this fall, a group featuring sophomore Jordan Ginther and true freshmen Erika Yohn and Maddy Olsen. Ginther logged just under 450 minutes in 2013 while seeing action in nine games.

A three-time Purdue graduate, Allen earned a bachelor's (education) and two master's degrees (human resource management; pedagogy and administration) from her alma mater. She is currently employed as the U.S. Talent Recruitment Simplification Leader by General Electric and is based in West Lafayette.

Since completing her undergraduate course work in 2005, she has coached at the high school level in Crawfordsville, Ind., Mason, Ohio, and West Lafayette (at both WLHS and Harrison).

Allen initially returned to Purdue in time for the beginning of the 2006-07 school year, starting a three-year stint as a graduate assistant in the athletic student services department within Purdue athletics. She worked under associate athletics director Ed Howat -- who is now the sports supervisor for women's soccer -- hiring, training and managing a large group of tutors and mentors.

Allen began her career with General Electric in 2009 and even spent six months working for GE Aviation in England. She moved back to West Lafayette in the summer of 2011.

Klatte and assistant coaches Erin Otagaki-VanPaemel and Parrissa Eyorokon have shared goalkeeper training duties since the departure of goalkeepers coach Jim Daugherty in the summer of 2012.

Allen and her husband Wes are the parents of a daughter, Quinn.
