WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Paula Reto was named co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week along with Lindsay Danielson of Wisconsin, the conference office announced Wednesday. It is the first conference weekly honor of the 2012-13 season for Purdue but the fifth for Reto in her career.
Reto won the individual medal on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., with a five-under par 211. The Cape Town, South Africa, native helped the Boilermakers to a third place finish as a team.
Reto saved her best round of the event for the final day, recording a three-under par 69 for the win. She shot a 71 in each of the first two rounds. It was Reto's first individual title this season, and the third of her career. She has been the Boilermakers low individual in all three fall tournaments.
Reto picked up Purdue's most recent Big Ten Golfer of the Week accolade, earning the honor April 12, 2012.
Purdue has one fall tournament remaining, the prestigious Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., on Oct. 26 to 28 at the Country Club of Landfall, the site of Purdue's 2010 national championship.
