WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women’s golf duo of senior Marta Martin and sophomore Micaela Farah were named to the 2017-18 Big Ten Preseason Watch List on Wednesday afternoon, marking the third straight year for Martin and the first career honor for Farah. The Boilermakers are two weeks away from their fall season opener, getting things started Sept. 11 at the Minnesota Invitational.
A three-year starter, Martin enters her final season with the Old Golf & Black, aiming to finish things on a high note. She played a major role in the Boilermakers advancing to their 17th NCAA Championship in the last 18 seasons, taking third at the NCAA Columbus Regional as they claimed 1-of-5 automatic team bids.
Farah was a First Team All-Big Ten pick in her rookie season with the Boilermakers, becoming the first Purdue freshman all-conference pick since 2010. She’s just the sixth freshman in program history to secure first-team honors, and counted a team score in 20-of-22 rounds in 2016-17.
The Boilermakers are scheduled to play just three events in the fall, starting with the Minnesota Invitational, heading to Northwestern for the Windy City Collegiate Classic and finishing up with their annual trip to the Landfall Tradition.
