WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Incoming freshman Alex Stewart, who signed a letter of intent with the Boilermakers in April, won the McArthur Towel and Sports Future Legends tournament on July 16, in Hartland, Wis.
The Peoria, Ariz., native won by seven strokes in the girls division of the American Junior Golf Association event at the Legend at Bristlecone. Stewart held a five-stroke lead after the second round and recorded three birdies in round three to finish with a three-over par 73 on the day and a 214 (+5) for the 54-hole tournament.
She completed her AJGA career with three victories and nine top-10 finishes. Stewart, who has been homeschooled, was named second team AJGA- Rolex All-American in 2009.
The 5-foot-4 golfer, who will join the Boilermakers in the fall, was a member of the victorious 2009 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup team.
